Federal Education Freedom Tax Credit
Expanding Access to a St. Peter Catholic Education
At St. Peter Catholic School, we believe every family should have the opportunity to choose a faith-filled, academically strong Catholic education for their child.
The new Federal Education Freedom Tax Credit creates an opportunity to expand access to Catholic education by encouraging charitable contributions that fund scholarships for eligible K–12 students.
Beginning January 1, 2027, eligible taxpayers may receive a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit of up to $1,700 per year for qualifying contributions, subject to IRS requirements.
Through this program, donors can help make Catholic education more accessible to families while receiving a federal income tax credit for their contribution.
How Does the Tax Credit Work?
The process is designed to connect generous donors with students who need greater access to educational opportunities.
Our Scholarship Granting Organization
The Diocese of Colorado Springs is an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) for the Federal Education Freedom Tax Credit program. In partnership with ACE Scholarships, the Diocese is working to expand educational opportunities and help more families access Catholic education throughout southern Colorado.
What Could This Mean for St. Peter Families?
The Education Freedom Tax Credit has the potential to create additional scholarship opportunities for eligible families seeking a Catholic education. For St. Peter Catholic School, this means an opportunity to welcome more students into a community where children are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Additional information regarding scholarship eligibility, application procedures, award amounts, and timelines will be shared as program implementation moves forward.
Why Support Catholic Education?
Your contribution can do more than provide financial assistance. It can help give a child the opportunity to experience an education centered on faith, academic excellence, character, and service.
