Principal Welcome
“A Catholic school is a place where students live a shared experience of faith in God and where they learn the riches of Catholic Culture… Catholic schools must help students to deepen their relationship with God and to discover that all things have their deepest meaning in the person and teaching of Jesus Christ.” ---Pope John Paul II
Dear Prospective St. Peter Catholic School Family,
Welcome to the St. Peter Catholic Parish and School community. This is a vibrant, faith-filled
parish blessed with many wonderful ministries. The largest ministry is St. Peter Catholic School
where we provide an authentically Catholic, Christ-centered, classical education focused on
providing superior academic preparation for all students.
St. Peter Catholic School is committed to helping each student grow in their faith and their
relationship with Christ through Catechesis, Theology, and a variety of religious services and
activities. We believe that as students grow stronger in their faith, they will become active
members of the Catholic community locally and globally. Staff members recognize that each
child is a unique individual entitled to develop spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially,
emotionally, and physically to his or her greatest potential. We accomplish this through classical
design--the trivium, in which students learn grammar (K-3 rd ), logic (4 th -6 th ), and rhetoric (7 th -8 th )
at appropriate stages of brain development. From their first day in kindergarten, students will be
encouraged to wonder and awe at God’s creation ultimately seeing the Truth, beauty, and
goodness He intended. We are excited to partner with you, the parents, in providing the best
possible educational environment for your child(ren) so that we are able to achieve this goal.
St. Peter Catholic School is part of the Diocese of Colorado Springs and fully accredited through
Western Catholic Educational Association. The facilities of St. Peter offer a safe, secure
environment through implementation of the latest guidance from the Monument Police and Fire
departments.
I encourage you to schedule a personal tour of the school and experience first-hand a school
guided by the Holy Spirit.
In Christ the Teacher,
Karen Shannahan, Principal
